Playful World
Tuesday 8th April saw the Launch of “Playful World”, a new publication from the Kildare County Childcare Committee. Minister for Children Brendan Smith launched Playful World for us in Athy Public Library, Co Kildare.
Around 100 people attended the Launch, including many of the children who participated in the making of the DVD.
Playful World: A Selection of Games from Around the World, was produced with funding obtained from the FAS County Childcare Committee Grant Scheme and with assistance from Kildare Youth TV. It is the result of an innovative project facilitated by KCCC with Athy Travellers Group and Kildare Youth Services Star Girls Youth Group in Athy. It aims to raise awaremess of the role that games can play in promoting inclusiveness among children in our increasingly diverse society.
Playful World is made up of a booklet and accompanying
DVD which explain how to play a selection of games from around the world. They are intended to be used together as a tool to promote inclusiveness and diversity.
